The Player's/GM
race car in this collection
is 1 of 32 lLEIR7U Player's Camaro Z28s built in the spring of 1991 for
the upcoming racing season. The car was ordered through Penticton B.C.
Chevy Dealer Sentes GM, by Bill Drossos during the fall of 1990. Drossos
finished the 90 Western Series strongly, with a 2nd
place in the finale at Calgary
on route to earning over $14,000 in prize money for the season. For most
of the 89 and 90 racing season the Drossos racing team was funded by
friends and family along with help from local body shop sponsor D
& N Auto
Body. With ever improving form during the 1990 season, Drossos was able
to attract associate sponsors, with Momo Canada and Clarion car audio
coming on board. In order to mount a more competitive challenge for 91,
Drossos sought out a primary sponsor and a deal was reached with local
Labatt's representatives to promote the Budweiser brand. The car was
purchased just ten days prior to the season opener at Calgary's Race
City where it would start from the front row. A combination of race
incidents and less than ideal preparation would make for a series of
disappointing results during the 91 campaign. The lone highlight being
the Vancouver Molson Indy where Drossos recorded the fastest lap of any
Western competitor on the rain soaked circuit.
For the start of the 1992 season a new
series issued engine was installed to comply with the one season engine
rule. NHL All Star Glenn Anderson assisted with the sponsorship quest,
leading to the Tomokazu Japanese Restaurant livery. During the 92 season
Drossos was able to solidify his reputation as a top competitor with
consistent top six qualifying and finishes amongst more experienced and
heavily funded rivals.

In the series finale at Mosport Drossos
was spun and then suffered a black flag stop and go penalty. Undeterred
Drossos put on a spirited through-the-pack drive to come from a low of
26th to finish a respectable 14th.
After the 92 racing season was over the
car was converted back to road use by removing all safety equipment and
returning the car to the original Arctic White color. Bill Drossos used
the car as his primary transport until the spring of 2006 when it was
insured under the collector vehicle program. During the summer of 2008
Bill sold the car to the Carter Classic Muscle Car collection with the
intent of restoring it to the original race ready condition. With work
scheduled to begin in the fall, Drossos, with help from former series
competitors and engineers, was able to secure an original series
exhaust, roll cage, and original sponsor decals. What started out as a
simple clean and paint snowballed into a complete restoration
encompassing nearly the entire vehicle. For historical authenticity the
original race worn Morna steering wheel is fitted along with the
associate sponsor Clarion Car audio stereo system. Closer inspection
reveals the race set-up markings on the strut towers. Of particular note
are the letters MOS that signify Mosport, the site of the
Player's/GM Series final race. The Car now appears exactly as it did
during the midway point of the 1991 season. It is now quite possibly the
finest example of a race car that participated in one of North Americas
premier showroom stock racing series.

Again the highlight of the season came
at Vancouver's Molson Indy when Drossos was able to bump friend, mentor,
and Series Champion Richard Spenard out of the 'Fast 8' in qualifying.
Drossos drove a solid race, resulting in a top ten finish in a field of
over 40 of Canada's best drivers.

The car resides in Daryl Carter's personal
muscle car collection in Penticton BC, Canada.
