68' California Special Mustang GT

Several specialty Mustangs were sold by Ford during 1968, the most significant variant being the California Special. The GT/CS was a hard top trim package featuring a combination of Shelby and GT Mustang styling features. The most obvious feature was the Shelby rear deck lid with integral spoiler. Also of note were the sequential taillights and the non functional Shelby side scoops.

Other cosmetic touches included a blacked out grill, minus the usual mustang emblem, fitted with rectangular Lucas or Marchal foglamps and a distinctive side stripe running from the front fender to the side scoop. Equipped with GT styled steel wheels, the GT/CS could be purchased with any regular production engine. Built primarily for the California market, only 4025 GT/CS Mustangs were ever produced.

This GT/CS was purchased in August 2005 from Sidney Smith of Vegreville Alberta.
